Bookings and Consultations

Online Appointments

Hot Doc is used for online appointments. Patients may make online appointments by clicking BOOK NOW on the practice website or by downloading the Hot Doc app to your smartphone or tablet.

If you are making an online appointment for a Telehealth consultation PLEASE NOTE that you must have had a face to face consultation with an MMC doctor in the previous 12 months otherwise you will be liable for the full consultation fee as Medicare will not provide a rebate.

Initial Consultation - New Patients

New Patient Form - Please complete and bring this form to your first appointment

We warmly welcome all new patients and families to Malvern Medical Centre. If you have a health matter that requires urgent attention please call TRIPLE ZERO 000 or present to your local hospital emergency department.

For a patient's first consultation, a long appointment is usually required.

Our admin team may arrange for your past medical records to be transferred to the clinic from your previous doctor.

Please note that because of the limited number of appointments available on Saturdays, we ask that, if possible, new patients book a weekday appointment for their initial consultation.

With the Nurse - Bulk-Billed Government Services:

The paperwork for your government-funded podiatry, dietetic, physiotherapy and many other services can be arranged through our Nurse Care Planning Clinics.

Other Nurse appointments:

Childhood and other immunisations/injections, wound management, spirometry (when available), ECGs and other procedures are best arranged with your nurse visit booked alongside your GP visit.

Urgent problems – triaging:

Please tell our Reception staff if you believe you have an urgent problem. We will then ask you some questions to determine how soon you should see a Doctor or if we need to arrange early ambulance attendance.

On the day appointments

Some of the doctors have "on-the-day" appointments which are released at 8.00am each morning for patients who have urgent matters requiring a consultation on that day. Patients can call the Centre at that time to try to secure one of these appointments.

"Walk-ins"

We are not a “walk in” clinic. However, in the event of a patient presenting we will triage him/her and decide on the appropriate action which may include arranging an unscheduled appointment with a doctor. If the matter is assessed as more urgent we will call 000 to arrange for an ambulance to attend.

After-hours Arrangements

Please phone either of the MMC numbers 8373 0355 or 7129 3094 to access this service.

The practice provides 24-hour care for patients by utilising the services of a locum service (which uses appropriately trained GPs) at times outside the practice hours quoted above.

At these after-hours times patient calls are diverted to the locum service by phoning either of the MMC numbers 8373 0355 or 7129 3094. All doctor home visits are bulk billed for patients with a Medicare or Gold DVA card.

Home Visits

Home visits may be available for regular patients whose condition prevents them from attending the surgery. In the first instance patients should speak to our reception staff who will liaise with the appropriate doctor regarding the timing of the appointment.
